User Background

Qingdao SCO Summit Night Lighting Project

In June 2018, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit was held in Qingdao, prompting the city to renovate and upgrade its night lighting system to create a brand-new urban lighting landscape. As an important international event, the lighting project covered multiple core areas and imposed strict requirements on equipment reliability, environmental adaptability, and control precision.

Challenges Faced

  • Qingdao's coastal areas feature high salt fog and humidity, demanding rigorous protection performance from equipment.
  • The project covered Shinan District, Shibei District, Huangdao District, Laoshan District, Haitian Center, waterfront boardwalks, Starlight Island, and other regions, requiring equipment to enable large-scale, multi-regional collaborative control.
  • Equipment needed to ensure stable lighting effects during the summit, supporting 24-hour continuous operation with rapid fault response.

Application Overview

KTB recommended the IPC-610L industrial computer (IPC) for the Qingdao SCO Summit night lighting project. Embedded in the lighting control system, the IPC achieved seamless human-machine interaction and control with various lighting devices. By integrating traditional lighting control methods with intelligent control center functions through specialized software and interfaces, it enabled precise regional lighting control, scene mode switching, and real-time monitoring—effectively solving challenges of wide-area coordination and environmental adaptability to achieve real-time, reliable, and efficient control.
